Opportunity
Holcim Croatia is hiring an experienced Project Engineering Substation / Electrical Engineer for a position based in Zagreb. Through KOdeCO net zero, we are reshaping the future of cement production – and we are looking for engineers ready to lead that change. The role covers coordination of all engineering disciplines, ensuring compliance of technical design with regulations, standards, and investor requirements. It includes managing interfaces between work packages, reviewing and controlling contractor documentation, leading integration of different units, supporting tendering and procurement processes, and providing technical input during contract preparation and permitting.
This includes (but it is not limited to)
Reports to the Project Engineering Manager / Project Director 
Accountable for the delivery of the assigned project section on time, of the required quality, and within budget 
Coordinates interfaces with other work packages in collaboration with the Engineering Manager and other Project Engineers 
Acts as the prime contact of the Contractor involved in design and/or procurement within the assigned project section 
In coordination with the Contract Manager, ensures timely delivery of contractual obligations towards Contractors and monitors that Contractors fulfill their obligations according to contract, establishing dashboards and tracking systems as required 
Participates in the development of technical design and preparation of documentation for the respective process section 
Coordinates tasks between engineering disciplines, suppliers, and external partners, and monitors the execution of deliverables according to plan 
Organizes and leads project reviews (HSED, design-to-cost, constructability, etc.) 
Provides dashboards to the Project Engineering manager, ensuring visibility of progress in engineering, procurement, work fronts, construction, and readiness for commissioning and start-up 
Supports the tendering process by preparing technical specifications, evaluating bids, and ensuring alignment with project requirements 
Provides operational support during contract finalization and ensures technical compliance with defined obligations 
Contributes to the preparation of permitting documentation and communication with regulatory authorities 
Reviews and comments on conceptual, main and detailed design documentation prepared by third parties 
Monitors engineering, procurement, and construction works on site, resolves technical issues, and proposes alternative solutions to ensure the process section is delivered and commissioned on time, at quality, within budget, and with the expected performance 
Acts as project Electrical Engineering, reviewing and validating technical solutions related to power supply, distribution systems, substations, grounding, lighting, and electrical infrastructure interfaces 
Reviews electrical design documentation including single-line diagrams, load lists, cable routing, protection systems, and vendor packages to ensure technical consistency, safety, compliance with applicable standards, Croatian regulations, and project requirements 
Coordinates electrical engineering interfaces with process, mechanical, civil/structural, and logistics disciplines, identifying technical risks, installation constraints, and proposing mitigation measures throughout engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases

What we expect
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering 
10 years of experience in the plant / industrial design, with proven expertise 
Result-oriented, with good organizational and communication skills and the ability to solve problems 
International mindset, adaptability, and flexibility 
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken 
Understanding of EPC contract structures and commercial terms 
Experience in managing complex projects involving multiple disciplines (engineering, procurement, construction) 
Knowledge of industry-specific standards and national/EU regulations, 
Ability to collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams 
Advanced computer skills in MS Office, AutoCAD; 3D coordination tools (Navisworks, MS Project, Primavera) 
Driver’s license (B category)
